Rory Browne has worked as a teacher, an artist in residence, a freelance artist and is currently the Head of Art at St George’s V.A. School in Harpenden. He has exhibited in Harpenden, The Edith Grove Gallery in Chelsea, Marloes Gallery in Kensington and at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.

This series of works was largely completed on visits to Cornwall and other parts of the country over the course of a year. Rory hopes to capture something of the essence of the place, time and season, to reflect the texture and vibrancy of the environment upon which the paintings are based. The focus may be on the drama of the view (Light Over the Cliff), the immediacy of painting in the face of flying sand (Wind and Surf), or simply the tranquillity of the scene (Autumn Glory or Evening Beach).

Rory Browne says of his work, “I am primarily concerned with reflecting the rich texture, vibrancy and beauty of the world around us. My work often alludes to a spiritual theme as well as a representational one, that our creativity is itself a reflection of the beautiful landscape, seascape, mountainside and woodland around us.”

“A feature of my work is the loose mark-making, which allows a richness of texture to be built up, adding depth and vibrancy.”
