Lister Hospital

The Lister Hospital in London is a private hospital owned by the HCA Group.

The Hospital underwent a complete refurbishment in 2009 and we provided artwork to the patient rooms and public areas. The artwork used in the patient rooms was printed by ourselves from commissioned watercolours by Terry McKiviagan of scenes of the local area. We also printed scenes of local interest from our art library source. The prints were then mounted and framed to a style agreed with the designer Angela Carrol.

The artwork for the public areas is a collection of photographs commissioned by the hospital and taken by Jon Carmichael. We presented these in black and white and as colour montages. These were then mounted to 18mm MDF with a heatseal to protect and then covered by 6mm toughened glass with chrome bolts to fit to the wall. All the artwork was installed by our expert fitters.

Prezzo - Victoria

We have worked for Prezzo Restaurants for many years and were invited to supply artwork for this new site. The restaurant is situated in London’s Victoria station shopping complex, Victoria Place, and we were asked to create a series of paintings celebrating icons from the film and music industries. Taking Andy Warhol’s image of Marilyn Monroe as a starting point (and with a nod to artist Julian Opie) we developed a set of digitally manipulated portraits of subjects suggested by the client. Once approved these were then produced as hand painted acrylics on canvas. A consistent colour palette was used across the range of six pieces, as requested by the designer Zekki , giving them a tonal unity and injecting a dynamic splash of colour into this modern stylish space. Ceiling mounted spot lights heighten the impact of the works which are hung against a mirrored wall. This was a problem we had to overcome as the paintings could not be fixed to the mirror. We came up with the solution of installing a cable hanging system fixed between the dado and ceiling giving the impression that the paintings float in front of the mirror.
